My heart sank when I saw her got in the T1. Reading the participatory list just confirmed it. Damn, I’m gonna row against Qifang again, except this time on a T1, not K2. And daph is gonna race with Lavender, on a K1, not a K2.

Early races make me feel really sick and scared and cold and clammy and really horrible. I just wanna complete the race, and put in whatever best I have but no, I’m not going to overstrain baby, I know my limits.

It’s only how bad we want it, and how much we’re willing to put in for it, that’s going to result in whether we’re going to have it or not. Medals aside, it’s about having given your best, knowing that’s the maximum you’ve got and you’ve put it all in just for the one race that counts.
I am angry for some people cos they deserve to row just as much as any others. Just because they’re juniors doesn’t mean they’re any slower than the seniors or whoever took their places! Unfair shit, no fair trials at all, really. Juniors are part of the team, not just cos they’re juniors you get to push them around and assume they’re okay with your plans with not including them in whatever race and they can’t even defend themselves cos they are juniors and don’t dare to speak up.
